Open Campus Mission Statement
Open Campus implements Florida Community College at Jacksonville's mission by anticipating and creating accessible, timely learning opportunities at convenient locations and in ways responsive to the needs and desires of diverse populations.
We foster innovative teaching strategies, techniques and instructional technologies.
We are a catalyst which stimulates workforce expansion and productivity, provides environments conducive to professional and individual growth, and initiates community deliberations about local and global issues.
Open Campus Branches Out
Today Open Campus is a student-centered global web of educational services. We have further developed and expanded our services to business by offering professional development to the high tech industry through the Technology Institute of the South. We have developed commitments to professional associations through our Institute for Financial Studies.
Open Campus has grown from offering courses to developing customized degrees here and around the world through our corporate college. Rounding out the services to degree-seeking students is the Accelerated College where students can get credit for life experience or through the ACE guide.
Today, continuing education is online and includes computer courses for fun or careers. Telecourses have remained a mainstay available in Jacksonville's four-county area on cable TV. Online course enrollment has made the virtual college enrollment the fastest-growing area of the college. Video production continues to produce telecourses and videoconferences. Our special events enrich the lives of hundreds, as does the Women's Center with a variety of services and publications.
