Design Technology Instructor Bios

Richard Binning offers the Technology Institute a solid background and expert experience with AutoCAD and related languages. Binning is currently a CAD Coordinator for The Haskell Company where he plays an integral role in the development, installation, and training of CAD users. He has served as a technical and subject matter expert for custom productivity enhancement routines that are currently used by CAD design teams and various Industrial A/E departments. Beta-testing, trouble-shooting, and serving as a "team" liaison are among his additional roles and experiences. Binning's talent as a CAD Designer is extended to the areas of architecture, civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical design and he is well-versed in the following languages: Visual Basic, VB Script, JavaScript, Visual Basic for Applications, C, Autolisp, Visual C++, Diesel, MaxScript and HTML. Richard Binning served as the Chairman of the THC CAD Steering Committee 2000. Richard is an elected member of the AUGI Board of Directors and he has been awarded a BS in Information Technology.

David M. Brazet PE, CPM, MCP is a multi-faceted professional with a broad range of professional experiences and achievements. A Certified Public Manager (CPM), MicroSoft Certified Professional (MCP) and Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in both Florida and Pennsylvania, Brazet is well versed in numerous Data Processing Software's including Bentley Systems, GeoGraphics & Modeler, Oracle and more. He is currently a CAD Systems Manager for Reynolds, Smith and Hills, Inc. where he is responsible for managing the Technical Support Group. Brazet is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University where he received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Brazet specializes in CAD Management issues related to CAD and GIS software.

Mark Couture is currently the Professional Services Manager for Intellicon Solutions, an Autodesk consulting firm and VAR here in Jacksonville. Mark brings six years experience as an Architect and CAD manager, as well as seven years working for Autodesk and the VAR channel as an Autodesk professional consultant. Mark is a member of the AIA and an Autodesk Certified Instructor. Mark specializes in consulting, training, and implementation of AutoCAD, Architectural Desktop, Viz, and Building Systems in both large and small firms nationwide. Additionally, Mark's resume also includes creating NCS-2 cad standards, developing computer based training courseware for Building Systems, 3D modeling, renderings, animations and being accepted as an instructor at Autodesk University. Mark holds a number of Autodesk professional certifications as well as a BS in Architecture & Design from the University of NH at Keene.

Stephen P. Czajkowski is currently a Senior GIS Software Developer for a large telecommunications company. His specific areas of expertise are data automation and system integration, with focus on intelligent hardcopy mapping systems, vehicle tracking/routing, and lagacy data georeferencing. He has successfully completed the ESRI Authorized Teaching Program (ATP) and has been designated an authorized instructor, by ESRI since 1999. Mr. Czajkowski has instructed more than 200 students in the use of ESRI software products. He earned both a B.S. in Biology (honors) and a M.S. in Resource Management from the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point, and has over 10 years of practical experience applying GIS to both the public and private sectors.

Robert Edmunds is a CAD Systems Manager for Edwards and Kelcey with more than 15 years of experience in Engineering/Architectural applications. Proficient in GIS, Microstation, Geopak, Descartes and Autodesk applications, Edmunds excels in the management of CAD departments for engineering firms. An Autodesk Certified Instructor, his focus is in the area of civil engineering applications. His expanded knowledge base and multiple software skills give a broad and valuable perspective to cross platform CAD applications.

Keith Joiner is an authorized ESRI ArcView instructor. Currently employed by the Northeast Florida Regional Planning council as a GIS Coordinator, Joiner has trained large numbers of government employees in ESRI GIS applications and is requested by both the public and private sector for his training and database skills.

Dawna Kinsel specializes in CAD applications for the architecture and construction industries. Formerly employed in the architecture division of The Stellar Group and Bloodgood Sharp Buster Architects and Planners, Inc. as a CAD designer, Kinsel brings extensive knowledge of production and design techniques to the classroom environment. An Autodesk Certified Instructor, she has taught courses in fundamental as well as advanced CAD applications. Her multiple software skills combined with extensive industry experience give valuable insight to students using CAD software in a production environment.

Jeffrey Y. Levitsky holds more than 30 years of experience in mechanical design and design documentation. A native of Leningrad, USSR, he is highly skilled in 2D, and 3D CAD design and has served as an Adjunct Professor at the Leningrad Institute of Technology and Leningrad Technical college. Levitsky is a former ACCSCT Instructor-of-the-Year nominee and was awarded a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Leningrad Institute of Technology. Since immigrating to the US more than 15 years ago, Levitsky has been employed by both mechanical and civil engineering firms. Levitsky is an Autodesk certified Instructor and is accomplish in Bentley Microstation. He is fluent in both English and Russian.

Steven D. Papke brings diverse architectural experience to the Technology Institute. Papke is a Project Architect who has been instrumental in the success of both residential and commercial projects in North Florida and is a leader in the area of computer design modeling and visualization. A former Chair of the 3D User's Group of Northeast Florida, he is also listed in the International Who's Who of Information Technology 2000. Papke earned both a Bachelor's of Design and Master's of Architecture (honors) from the University of Florida, College of Architecture.

James Smell is an award winning architect and experienced educator. He pursued study abroad with the Atelier Veneziano College of Architecture's Venice Program and received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Kentucky College of Architecture. Smell is a registered Architect with the state of Florida and has been an active member of AIAS for numerous years. Formerly an Florida Community College instructor, Jim is an Autodesk Certified Instructor and is currently employed by Autodesk in the Building Industry Division. Jim is a guest instructor for Autodesk Architectural Desktop applications.

Hope H. Van Nortwick is currently the Program Manager for Automated Design Technology at the Technology Institute of the South. An accomplished Architect, Van Nortwick holds more than 30 years of combined field, education and management experience. A Certified Autodesk Instructor at Florida Community College at Jacksonville, she has additionally held positions at Jacksonville University, ITT Technical Institute and is a former Department Chair for the Duval County Public Schools. The University of Florida has awarded Van Nortwick a B.A. in Education, B.A. in Architecture (high honors) and a M.A. in Building Construction (honors).
